Youth Charged with Failing to Comply and Drug Possession

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a male youth for breaching his release conditions.

On August 2, 2013 the youth was released from custody with several conditions. Two of the conditions stated that he was not to possess any illegal or controlled substance and was to obey a daily curfew of 9:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Around 2:00 a.m. this morning, an officer was on general patrol in the area of Sheldon Avenue and Wilson Street when he observed three youths riding bicycles. The officer stopped to speak with the youths and learned the one youth was breaching his curfew condition. The youth was taken into custody and upon being searched incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of marijuana.

The 15-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with two counts of failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
