On Thursday March 27, 2014, Waterloo Regional Police along with EMS and Wilmot Township firefighters responded to a workplace accident at a mill on Puddicombe Road in Wilmot Township. An employee of the mill entered a silo containing soy beans to clear an obstruction. The employee became trapped and was unable to free himself. After several hours, firefighters were able to locate and remove the male. A 62 year old male from Plattsville succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Ministry of Labour was called in and is continuing to investigate.
