Waterloo Regional Police are asking for the public’s assistance as they continue to investigate an assault that occurred in Cambridge on Friday, September 9, 2016. At 11:30 p.m., a 20-year-old Cambridge woman was walking along Langs Drive, between Hespeler Road and Concession Road, when she was grabbed from behind and pulled to the ground by a man. The victim fought back and began screaming. A nearby neighbor heard the victim and came to her assistance. The suspect took off and was last seen running along Langs Drive towards Livingston Crescent. The victim was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries to her face. It is not yet clear if this was a targeted incident. Police are asking anyone who may have been driving or walking in the area between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. to call 519-653-7700 ext. 2299 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Police are also releasing a composite sketch of the suspect. He is described as a white man, possibly with darker skin, a partially bald or shaved head and round face.
