Woman Driver Going 3X Speed Limit Throws Full Cup Of Hot Tea In Officer’s Face

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) County of Brant OPP have charged a female with racing and assault after police stopped a motor vehicle on Blossom Avenue in the County of Brant, Ontario travelling more than 3 times the speed limit on 18 November 2016 at approximately 3:10 p.m.

While on patrol an OPP officer observed a motor vehicle that appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed on Blossom Avenue. The vehicle recorded a reading on radar of more than 3 times the posted 40km/h speed limit.

Police stopped the grey 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and during traffic stop the female driver threw a full cup of hot tea in the officer’s face.

Police have charged 48 year old Veronica FERGUSON of Norfolk County, Ontario with racing contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Assault Police contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Aggressive driving is one of the “Big Four” driving behaviours that contribute to road fatalities in Ontario and that the OPP targets as part of its Provincial Traffic Safety Program (PTSP), in their efforts to save lives.

OPP are reminding all motorists that the minimum fine for Racing, if convicted is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension for 7 days.

She is to appear in Provincial Court, Brantford, Ontario at a later date to answer to her charges.
