On Tuesday the 6th of August 2013 at approximately 1:55AM, a female resident in the area of Dunlop Street West and Ferndale Drive heard the sound of someone breaking into the shop downstairs from her apartment. She called police to report incident. As she was on the phone to police, the suspect broke into her apartment.
She managed to brandish a baseball at the suspect who immediately fled. Officers responded quickly and cordoned the area off. A K9 officer also quickly arrived and the dog located the suspect nearby. He was arrested and taken to the police station for investigation. The 24 year old Barrie man was intoxicated and told officers that he was trying to locate his ex-girlfriend and believed she lived in the area. The resident in the apartment he had broken into was not his ex-girlfriend and they do not know each other. The male was charged with Break and Enter and Mischief. He was held until sober and then released with a future court date.
