Woman Beaten And Robbed While Waiting For A Bus

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses and any information that may assist with identifying a suspect following a violent robbery in Vaughan.

On Sunday, October 16, 2016, at approximately 6:50 a.m., a 23-year-old lady was waiting for a bus in the area of Weston Road and Steeles Avenue. She was approached by an unknown person from behind and struck multiple times in the head with an unknown weapon. The suspect then stole the victim’s mobile phone. The victim suffered serious injuries, but took herself to hospital, where she remains.

Investigators are appealing to anyone that may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to please come forward. At this time there are no suspect descriptions available, however investigators are also appealing to anyone that may have knowledge of this robbery to contact police immediately.

Citizens are asked to use caution in the area, as this robbery does not appear to have been targeted. If you spot any suspicious behaviour, please call police right away.
