(Huron County, ON) – Winter is fast approaching Southwestern Ontario and drivers should prepare themselves for snowy and slippery roads by getting their vehicles tuned up.
Huron OPP would like to assist the public with some tips to prepare for their winter driving experience.
Getting Your Vehicle Ready
o All season radial tires are fine in some climates but 4 snow tires are a must for a Canadian winter
o Have your vehicle serviced for winter to ensure the brakes are in good condition, the battery is in good condition, all the fluids (oil, radiator and transmission) are topped up, the heater and defroster are in good working order and have your windshield wiper blades replaced
o Carry an extra bottle of windshield washer anti-freeze and keep the reservoir topped up
o Get a good ice scraper and brush to clear off the snow and ice from ALL windows on your vehicle BEFORE you head out
o Make sure all your lights are in good working order
Driving in a Canadian winter can be challenging in itself but by having your vehicle prepared takes away the worry and frustration of a break down.
Be Prepared and Drive Safely.
