According to reports, the Wingham Police were involved in two chases last night. The first we heard about was the suspected drunk driver that rolled his vehicle, resulting in an SIU investigation and closing of Amberley Road from Josephine Street to Helena Street.
The other incident took place earlier last night, around 10pm involving a motorcycle and a high rate of speed, reportedly in excess of 130mph. WFP was tipped of by a reader about this incident, as they were very concerned about public safety, as the police continued the chase to Teeswater.
“Last night approximately 10 p.m. give or take 15 mins. there was a motorcycle, (looked like a speed bike type) came flying into Teeswater in excess of a 130 mph.. unbelieveable speed it was travelling: then , in HOT PURSUIT behind was the Wingham TOWN Police. Sirens blaring and cruiser ,simply put .. FLYING” as well. THERE WAS NO WAY that cop was going to catch that bike and he not only endangered the his & the bike person’s life BUT anyone who may have been out on the street.
A person OR vehicle would never of had a chance NOR Time to get out of the way of either.
This cop was obviously pursuing this motorcycle from Wingham and would of known that he could never catch him by the time he got to the feed mill outside of Wingham.
The cop then toured around Teeswater to see if he could find this biker. Little did he know the bike went back out of town southbound while he was looking for him downtown.
VERY Foolish UNSAFE act on this TOWN Cop’s part.†Anonymous Witness.
