(Goderich, ON) On December 9, 201 shortly after midnight, a vehicle and driver caught the attention of a Huron OPP officer on patrol in Goderich. The officer followed the motorist for several blocks noting that the driver failed to stop for stop signs repeatedly, failed to signal turns and driving too fast for the conditions. The motorist got stuck in a snow bank but luckily there was a police officer there to assist him.
Upon speaking to the driver, the officer immediately began to form the grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and searched prior to being taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he would met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The search yielded a quantity of suspected cannabis marihuana. The male was then taken to the Huron Detachment and his test results indicated that he had more than two times above the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
In addition to the above, it was determined that the driver was already suspended from driving.
William John David OLIVER (23) of Teeswater is now facing one count of Impaired Driving, one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cannabis Marihuana and one count of Drive While Suspended.
