William CONNOR – Drug Driving – Cocaine

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 66 year old is facing Impaired Driving and Drug Possession charges following a traffic stop on December 18, 2014. At 12:38 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about a driver of a PT Cruiser that was observed travelling westbound on Huron Road toward Goderich in an erratic manner.

A short time later, the suspect vehicle was spotted parked at a shopping mall plaza on Huron Road. Police approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The driver was displaying signs that he was under the influence of a drug. As a result, a demand was given to the driver that required him to provide standard field sobriety tests. The driver failed the field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. The driver was also searched incident to arrest and the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine.

A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) attended the Mitchell OPP Detachment and conducted drug evaluation tests. The driver was determined to be impaired by drug.

As a result, William CONNOR, 66, from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 2, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
