At last night’s council meeting, Councillor Vodden inquired why the PRISM emergency system wasn’t activated for the recent tornado watches. According to Neil Vincent, the system wasn’t designed to react quick enough to alert the public about imminent dangers.
Our IT consultant has upgraded our Emergency Broadcast System to automatically check for weather warnings/watches. If there is a weather warning issued for Huron – Perth, our EBS will be automatically activated. Our EBS banner will link to Environment Canada’s site with further details.
This system is in Beta testing, as we can’t fully check the software until there is a weather warning/watch for this area.
