WFP Comments Before Town Hall Email To Be Released & WFP Ultimatum

Yesterday, current CAO Gary Long sent an email to all North Huron senior staff, Councillors, Connie Goodall and a key WFP supporter. This email claims that WinghamFreePress is a detriment to Wingham, and alleges that several businesses have chosen not to locate here because of the WFP. This email will be released in the coming days, along with excerpts of an interview with Gary Long regarding his views of North Huron Councillors and town staff.

WFP views these claims with great scepticism. WFP’s main focus is to criticize criminals and council. It is our goal to get council to get spending under control, and lower taxes. It seems absurd that a business would refuse to locate in Wingham because a handful of locals criticize council and criminals. If a business refuses to locate here for those reasons, they are either criminals or have political aspirations and fear harsh criticism.

WFP has publicly vowed support for anyone that is willing to invest in Wingham or surrounding area. We are very pro-business and have refused to target local businesses, even those owned by Councillors and NH staff and family members. This is a line which we will not cross, despite our views on Council. Doing so, would be stooping to the level of Deputy David Riach when he called the employer of a activist/critic in an obvious attempt to silence him.

Our staunch support of Royal T when the new owners took over, was received with harsh criticism from some locals, there were even accusations of WFP taking money in exchange for our support.

We have supported local businesses, given some free advertising and posted press releases for those that requested us to do so. WFP’s IT consultant had even offered free webhosting and development of a highly integrated website, including a mobile app, to promote North Huron businesses.
