Warrant on Ritchie Street results in charges and seized drugs

(Ottawa)— On July 27, 2015, the Ottawa Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) warrant in the 1–100 block of Ritchie Street.

An investigation started in July 2015 in relation to drug activity and resulted in the arrest of Denzel MAXWELL, 19 years old of Ottawa, and Joilette FARQUHARSON-APPIAH (f), 19 years old of Ottawa.

Both are facing joint charges of:

Trafficking Schedule I Substance (crack cocaine) CDSA

Trafficking Schedule II Substance (marijuana) CDSA

Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000 Criminal Code

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I (crack cocaine) CDSA

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I (cocaine) CDSA

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I (ecstasy) CDSA

Denzel MAXWELL also faces charges of:

Trafficking Schedule I (crack cocaine) x 3, CDSA

Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5000 x 3 Criminal Code

Joilette FARQUHARSON-APPIAH also faces charges of:

Possession of Proceeds Under $5000 Criminal Code

Seized items as part of the investigation included:

4.7 grams of Crack Cocaine – valued at $940

4.6 grams of Cocaine – valued at $460

9 Ecstasy Pills – valued at $180

1.7 grams of Marijuana – valued at $170

54 Capsules of Synthetic Marijuana – valued at $540

$9257 in Canadian Currency

Stolen Property – 3 laptops

FARQUHARSON-APPIAH has been released on a Promise to Appear and MAXWELL has been remanded in custody until a bail hearing next week.
