(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Friday, July 17, 2015, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) learned of a male subject wanted by the Owen Sound Police Service for criminal offences living in a shed behind a residence on Thompson Street, Meaford, in the Municipality of Meaford.
At approximately 2:58 p.m. on July 17th, as officers approached the property, the suspect fled on foot. He was apprehended on Grandview Drive after a short foot chase. During the arrest, a small quantity of Crystal Methamphetamine was located on the suspect. He was taken to the Meaford Detachment and was later turned over to the Owen Sound Police on their arrest warrant.
39-year old Richard John GILCHRIST of Owen Sound was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act and Fail to Comply with Probation Order under the Criminal Code.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Monday, July 20, 2015.
