Incident: On Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at approximately 12:00 p.m., a man was at a business on Fairview Drive seeking advice from an employee in a private office. While in the office, the man hugged the employee from behind and placed his hand over her mouth while pinning her against a wall. The man attempted to lock the door to prevent the employee from leaving however the door was not equipped with a lock. The victim was able to bang on the window of the door and signal for help. Other employees entered the room, at which point the man pushed the victim to the ground and fled the office. On his way out, the man stole the employee’s purse. Community Patrol Officers were contacted and provided a detailed description of the man. He was located and arrested a short distance away.
As a result, a 19 year-old Brantford man was charged with Assault, Forcible Confinement and Theft. He was held for a bail hearing.
The victim was not in need of medical treatment.
