(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Sunday November 8, 2015, shortly before 6 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to Francis St. residence in Mitchell in response to a reported robbery.
Officers attended at the residence and were advised by the victim that as he answered a knock at the door a male forced his way inside. The victim was restrained and punched by the male while two other males searched through his residence. Some electronics, personal documents and miscellaneous items were taken. The three males left the residence and the victim observed them running south bound from Frances Street along St. Andrew St.
Perth County OPP officers with the assistance of the OPP West Region Canine Unit were led to a Mitchell residence. Three males matching the description provided by the victim were subsequently located and arrested. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and the property taken during the robbery was located.
21-year-old Byron Anderson LAING of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Robbery with violence
– Disguise with intent
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 16, 2015 to answer to these charges.
20-year-old Dylan Joseph Benjamin SIGL of the Municipality of West Perth has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Robbery with violence
– Disguise with intent
– Fail to comply with probation order
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 23, 2015 to answer to these charges.
30-year-old Shawn Fraser William TINNING of Stratford has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
– Robbery with violence
– Disguise with intent
– Fail to comply with probation order
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 13, 2015 to answer to these charges.
The Perth County OPP is continuing their investigation into this robbery and would like to speak to anyone who may have observed suspicious activity on Sunday morning November 8th along Francis and St. Andrew St. in Mitchell.
