In a shocking turn of events North Huron council is updating their property standards bylaw to make it illegal for town staff to continue to dump snow on our sidewalks in the winter. This gross negligence has injured numerous victims over the years, driving our insurance premium up to nearly $150,000/year.
While this was already covered in the Highway Traffic Act, this reaffirmation of the law will help hold town staff and council accountable for endangering pedestrians. Below is a clip from the upcoming new bylaw.
No person shall throw, place, or deposit leaves, grass clippings, dirt or snow on a highway, or sidewalk.
