This morning (11May2016) on the Wingham Community Trail at least two dogs were off their leash while the irresponsible owner powerlessly called for the animals as they ran wild. Several Winghamites could not use the trail this morning as the dogs appeared aggressive, even from a distance. The desperate calls of the owner to get the dogs under control made it clear that avoiding the area was a good idea.
Moments later two large dogs (1 tan, 1 black) were seen running in the river flats. Standing on the bridge by the Legion you could see the dogs chasing Canadian Geese and their babies. Several goose couples were seen trying to swim for safety, only one goose couple still had their children in tow. Several couples took flight leaving their goslings and nests 100% vulnerable to this pack of dogs.
It is not known how many goslings were murdered due to the irresponsible actions of this dog owner.
