(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) urge residents to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of plain view to avoid being victims of theft. Don’t think it won’t happen to you! If you fail to remove valuables from within your vehicle, and, fail to lock it, the chance of a theft occurring is far greater than if you had locked your vehicle.
On February 1, 2016, Grey County OPP investigated several thefts from vehicle reports in the Township of Southgate. Five unlocked vehicles had been entered sometime overnight. Stolen property included wallets, phone chargers, cash, perfume, alcohol, a Tim Horton’s jacket and two “Coach” purses valued at approximately $1,300. The thefts occurred on a number of streets throughout Dundalk. (Victoria Street, Young Street, Artemesia Street. N., McDowell Street and Sheffield Street).
Remember – “Lock it or Lose it”!
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious vehicles and/or persons to police.
