(Goderich, ON) On July 19, 2009 at approximately 12:30 am an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Gibbons Street in Goderich with daytime running lights and no taillights. The vehicle was stopped and as soon as the officer approached the car, the strong fresh odour of marihuana was detected inside. While speaking to the driver and the two passengers, the officer observed signs of impairment coming from the driver. A subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants lead to a seizure of suspected cannabis marihuana. All three occupants were then arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
A 23 year old Goderich man has been charged with two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking, one count of Impaired Driving, one count of Personation, one count of Breach Probation and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marihuana. He has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing on July 20th.
A 16 year old Goderich male was also charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marihuana. He will return to Goderich Youth Court to answer to his charge on September 10, 2009.
Lastly, a 17 year old Goderich female was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marihuana. She will return to Goderich Youth Court to answer to her charge on September 10, 2009.
