At 9:41pm on the 12th of March 2014, a Waterloo Regional Police officer was driving a marked cruiser on Conestoga Parkway. The officer and other traffic were travelling below the posted limit because of the extremely icy road conditions. The officer observed a black Jetta passing at a high rate of speed with ice and snow on all of the side windows. The officer observed the Jetta tailgating several other vehicles while weaving in and out of traffic. The Jetta exited on King Street East near Sportsworld drive, where the officer locked the Jetta on moving radar well in excess of the posted limit. For driving with undue care and showing no consideration for other persons using the highway, the 23 year old male driver from Ridgeville, ON was charged with careless driving, follow to close, speeding and having no clear view to the sides. If convicted the driver faces $1000 in fines and 14 demerit points.
