(KINCARDINE, ON.) – The South Bruce OPP along with Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers conducted vehicle safety inspections for National Road Safety Week to enhance roadway safety for all motorists. Vehicles for inspection were identified by South Bruce OPP members while on patrol.
On Tuesday May 11th, 2010 a vehicle inspection station was set up on Valentine Avenue in Kincardine where 42 vehicles were inspected. Licence plates were removed from 22 vehicles, another 17 vehicles received notice for required repairs and 6 vehicles were deemed safe. Offence notices were issued including: vehicle over gross weight, no exhaust, no pre trip inspection report and no inspection sticker.
On Wednesday May 12th, 2010 a vehicle inspection station was set up at the former MTO building on Kincardine Highway in Walkerton where 39 vehicles were inspected. Licence plates were removed from 8 vehicles, another 18 vehicles received notice for required repairs and 6 vehicles were deemed safe. Offence notices were issued including: vehicle over registered gross weight, no permit for trailer, no directional signals and no validation on plate.
The South Bruce OPP are asking all drivers to contribute to roadway safety by operating a properly maintained and safe vehicle.
