On June 3, 2015 at 11:10 p.m., officers observed flames coming from a vehicle parked at Piccadilly Motors located at 470 York Street. The fire from this vehicle caused damage to two vehicles that were parked on either side of it, totalling approximately $24,000 damage.
An adult male and female that were at or near the scene were arrested and transported to London Police Headquarters. After further investigation, the female was released unconditionally.
As a result of the continued investigation, Mitchell Smids (20) of London has been charged with arson causing property damage, contrary to section 434; and arson endangering life, contrary to section 433(a); both of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Mitchell Smids is to appear in court today.
