(Ottawa)— On April 16th 2015, at 10:25am, an Ottawa Police officer was flagged down by an employee of a car dealership near Bank St and Rideau Rd. after he observed two suspects attempting to steal a vehicle in the lot. The officer approached the suspects at which time they left in the stolen vehicle. The vehicle made contact with the officer’s leg as the suspects fled.
Officers pursued the vehicle until the pursuit was terminated on Mitch Owens, East of Bank Street. The abandoned stolen vehicle was later located on Pana Road. A Canine officer and his police service dog attended and conducted a tracking, which led to the suspects. Both were arrested without incident in a wooded area south east of the stolen vehicle’s location.
Gordon CRAIG, (m) 43 y.o., a federal parolee, is charged with the following offences;
Assault with a weapon
Theft of a motor Vehicle
Possess Property or things obtained by crime
Failure to stop for police/pursuit
Disqualified operation of a motor vehicle
Assault
Forcible confinement
Possess break-in instrument
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Possess property or things obtained by crime under $5000
Uttering threats/death or bodily harm
CRAIG has been held for a Bail Hearing. The female who was arrested with CRAIG was released without charge.
The investigation is still ongoing by East District Investigators.
