(Ottawa)- The East Division Traffic Unit, of the Ottawa Police Service, conducted proactive traffic enforcement in school zones located within Ottawa’s East end. This initiative was supported by Traffic Escort officers, Community Police officers, Neighborhood officers, School Resource officers and Patrol officers.
As the trusted leader in policing, the Ottawa Police Service’s mission is to protect the safety, security and quality of life in Ottawa. In order to answer to our obligation, targeted initiatives such as these help ensure a safe environment for children, parents, school staff and local residents residing near school zones.
As a result of the enforcement initiative, over 20 school locations were attended by police and 110 Provincial Offence Notices (tickets) were issued for various Highway Traffic Act and 101 Bylaw offences. The fastest speeder caught was travelling 41km/hr above the speed limit in a school zone.
The Ottawa Police Service East District Traffic Section is committed to the safety of its citizens and will continue to conduct traffic enforcement initiatives.
