On July 29, 2015 the Guelph Police received a number of calls from south end residents in relation to a suspicious male trying to gain entry to several homes.
The male had already committed several home entries in the area by the time police had been called. Police responded to the area and a patrol officer observed the male exiting a home through the window that he had smashed to gain entry. While being placed under arrest police discovered smoke billowing out of the residence that the male had broken into. Guelph Fire attended to the residence and the fire was extinguished. Fire damage was contained to one room on the upper floor of the home, investigation revealed that the fire was deliberately set.
Other homes that had been entered received damage as a result of windows being damaged. A total of four homes were affected in this incident. An estimate of total damage is not available at this time.
A 25 year old Guelph man has been charged with the following: One count of attempt break and enter, one count of break and enter and commit mischief, one count of break and enter and commit arson and three counts of break and enter with intent. The male is being held for bail with a July 30, 2015 court date.

14 Reid Ct.
GUELPH, ON, July 29, 2015 at approximately 2:07 p.m. the Guelph Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 14 Reid Ct. Units from Stone Road, Clair Road, WERC, Elizabeth St, and Wyndham St. arrived on scene and found a two storey residential house on fire.
Stone road crew arrived on scene first. Smoke was seen coming from the second storey window. Fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Fire was contained to one bedroom on the upper level.
There were no injuries to fire department personnel. Occupants were not at home at the time of the incident.
The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation Fire Prevention Officers were contacted and are on scene conducting an investigation.
The quick action of Guelph Police notifying the Guelph Fire department of the incident reduced damage to the home and possible injuries to Firefighters. GWEMS were also on scene in support.
Collision
On July 29, 2015 at 5:10 p.m., Police were called to the intersection of Stone Road and Gordon Street for a collision. It is alleged that a Ford pickup truck, operated by a 54 year old Rockwood woman, was turning left from eastbound Stone Road to southbound Gordon Street, lost control of the truck and struck a pole. Seconds after this collision, a Kia, driven by a 29 year old Guelph man, struck the Ford pickup truck.
There were only minor injuries as a result of the collision. Both drivers were charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Excessive Speed Results in Vehicle Seizure
On July 29, 2015 at 9:46 p.m., police were in the area of Elmira Road and Paisley Road in response to a complaint about street racing and excessive speeds. It is alleged a Chevrolet Corvette was observed by police travelling southbound on Elmira Road South (from Paisley Road) at a high rate of speed. The Corvette registered a speed of 104 km/h in the 50 km/h residential area. The motor vehicle was stopped and 40 year old Guelph man is charged with Speeding and Perform Stunt – Exceed speed limit by 50 or more km. His motor vehicle was seized for a period of 7 days and his driver’s license was suspended for the same time period.
Report of a Disturbance Leads to Arrest
On July 30, 2015 at 12:46 a.m. Guelph Police were called to a hotel in the north end of the city, where there was a report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, 34 year old Angela Feener, a Kitchener woman, was arrested for assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous. She has a September 8, 2015 court date. There were no injuries in this incident.
Break and enter
On July 29, 2015 at 3:32 a.m., the Guelph Police went to a Cole Road residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime between 11 p.m. and 3:30 a.m., and stole two bicycles.
