(MILVERTON, ON) – Members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch – Detective Inspector Hillman, have laid charges in relation to an overnight shooting investigation.

Police have charged 23-year-old Michael SCHWEITZER from Milverton, Ontario with First Degree Murder Contrary Section 235(1) and Attempt Murder While Using other Firearm Contrary to Section 239(1)(a.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He appeared in Stratford Provincial Court today to answer to the charges. The case was remanded until December 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

The victims in this instance have been identified as 17-year-old Nicole WAGLER from Milverton, Ontario. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. A second victim has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler BAKER from Milverton, Ontario was rushed to London Health Sciences hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Members of the investigative team remain on scene and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
