Last night around 8:00 p.m. members of the Chatham-Kent Police Drugs and Intelligence Unit with the assistance of the Community Patrol Branch and Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) attended a residence in the Dresden area to arrest a man.

The man was uncooperative and refused to surrender himself. Due to public safety reasons, the OPP Tactical Response Unit (TRU Team) was called to assist.

Shortly before 11:00 a.m. this morning, the 69-year-old Dresden man surrendered himself to police and was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with one count of uttering threats. He has been transported to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the public for respecting the road closure and limiting the spread of information through social media. This allowed officers to effectively deal with the situation and bring the incident to a peaceful resolution for everyone involved.
