Update: Cyclist Struck By Vehicle Deceased – Name Withheld Pending Next Of Kin Notification

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) -Today at approximately 6:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Wellington Road 7 between Wellington Road 51 and Eighth Line, north of Guelph. Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had collided with a cyclist.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue, and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service responded. The cyclist, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity will be withheld until next of kin have been notified. The driver of the vehicle that struck the cyclist remained at scene.

The investigation is ongoing and County Road 7 is expected to be closed between Eighth Line and County 51 for several hours.

The OPP is asking that anyone who may have been driving on County 7 southbound early this morning and saw the cyclist to please call them at 1-888-310-1122.
