UPDATE: Convenience Store Fire

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit continues to assist the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office in the investigation of the fire that occurred at 7386 Highway six known as Hoppys Gas Bar on the 24th of September, 2012.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s is now leading the investigation assisted by members of the Bruce Peninsula OPP Crime Unit.

No further information is available at this time.

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Members of the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to assist the Tobermory and Lions Head volunteer fire department with a structure fire on Highway 6 around 8:12 p.m. last evening.

Upon police arrival, the business known as Hoppys One Stop convenience store was fully engulfed by fire. OPP blocked north and southbound traffic on Highway 6 while fire officials attended to the blaze. Nobody was in the building at the time of the fire. The highway was reopened just before midnight.

Members of the Bruce Peninsula Crime unit are continuing to investigate. The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office has been contacted by police. The scene has been secured while the investigation continues.
