Update: All Major Roadways Remain Closed

HURON COUNTY WINTER ROAD CLOSURES

All Major Roadways Remain Closed

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is urging motorists to refrain from all unnecessary travel throughout the county.

Huron OPP has responded to numerous calls for service related to drivers that have risked their safety venturing out in these adverse conditions. Vehicles stuck in snow drifts, stopped in the middle of the road and/or abandoned on the roadway create problems for emergency vehicles and snow removal vehicles.

All provincial highways (Highway 8, Highway 4 and Highway 21), along with all County of Huron roads remain closed throughout Huron County. Weather and road conditions continue to be extremely poor making travel treacherous throughout most of the county.

Motorists are reminded to respect the road closure signs that are in place. Driving on a closed road is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act that carries a $110 fine and three demerit points upon conviction.

All motorists are encouraged to check weather and road conditions by calling 511or online at www.Ontario.ca/trip for up to date road conditions for provincially maintained highways. This bilingual service is available 24 hours a day and provides updates on highway closures and road conditions.
