Unwanted persons call leads to arrest and recovered stolen property

On February 29, 2016 at 1:26 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a motel located on Gordon Street to assist them with unwanted people in a room. One female was located, not the person registered. Inside the room, police discovered bike parts and a black Trek bicycle that had been reported stolen to the University of Guelph Police on November 9, 2015. The female was arrested. A further search also located a small quantity of methamphetamine, cell phones, Xbox 360 console with games as well as a safe.

Alexis Reilly, 32 years of Guelph has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. She will appear in court on April 15, 2016.

Break and enter

On February 29,, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Hales Crescent residence to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) broke into the garage and entered the car. There is no report of theft in this incident.

Theft from cars

On February 29, 2016 the Guelph Police received two reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Macdonell Street and Zecca Drive.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. The Guelph Police were involved in 175 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
