(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Thursday March 10, 2011 shortly before the noon hour, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a crash on Hwy. 7/8 between Road 104 and Road 106.
A west bound pickup truck on Hwy. 7/8 made a left turn onto the MTO weigh scale property on the south side of the highway in an attempt to turn around. As the pickup truck crossed the east bound lane it was struck by a west bound tractor trailer which was occupying the east bound lane. The pickup truck was struck on the driver’s side by the transport. The pickup truck driver was transported to Stratford General Hospital with minor injuries.
The pickup truck driver, a 34 year old male from Baden has been charged with “turning not in safetyâ€. The 61 year old transport driver from Niagara Falls did not sustain any injuries.
