Unlocked SUV Stolen From Driveway

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday October 22, 2011 Perth County OPP officers observed a Lincoln SUV driving erratically on Barber Ave, North. The officers being unaware that this SUV had been stolen from a residence on Centennial Court made attempts to pull it over and check the sobriety of the driver. The driver of the SUV refused to stop for police and accelerated west bound on Main St. West and continued west on Perth Line 86. Taking into account all conditions and public safety, officers made no further attempt to stop the vehicle.

At 5 a.m. Huron County OPP officers were called to a residence on Brussels Line in Huron East where a homeowner discovered that his black 2011 Ford F350 pickup truck was stolen and a Lincoln SUV had been left in its place. The owner of the truck advised that a wallet and the keys of the truck had been left in the centre console. The Lincoln SUV was identified as the one stolen from Centennial Court in Listowel.

On Sunday October 23, 2011 around the noon hour, a Perth County OPP officer on patrol located the stolen black 2011 Ford F350 pickup truck from Brussels Line in a parking lot of apartments along Barber Ave. in Listowel.

The Perth County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of OPP West Region Identification Unit out of Mount Forest and Perth County Scenes of Crime officers are actively investigating these incidents.
