Unlocked Stolen Truck Set Ablaze – Suspect Descriptions Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating are investigating the theft and suspected arson of a Chevrolet pickup truck. On August 30, 2013 around 12:30 p.m. the owner of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck reported his unlocked pickup had been stolen. Also stolen from inside the truck were a set of Klein electrical tools, an Ideal multimeter, satellite radio system and personal cheques. The truck had been parked at a cottage property in Port Albert.

The following morning just before 7:00 a.m. Huron County OPP officers and Lucknow Fire Department members responded to a vehicle fire located at the Port Albert Beach. Two fishermen observed two male suspects walking away from the burning truck. The burnt out truck was identified as the stolen Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The suspects are described as: white males, in their late teens to early 20’s, around 5’11”, with medium builds. One suspect had short blonde hair and the other had short dark hair. Both were last observed heading away from the beach on Melborne Street.

Damages to the truck are estimated between $25,000 – $30,000.
