(Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh, ON) On November 8, 2009 at approximately midnight, Huron OPP officers were patrolling on Lucknow Line when a vehicle was observed swerving in its’ lane. The vehicle was stopped and officers spoke to the two young male occupants. The odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on the driver and the officer made a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied but failed his test. Alcohol was also located inside the vehicle. The driver was then arrested and taken to the Huron Detachment where he provided two more samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. The results of the tests confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol.
As a result of the investigation, a 17 year old Lucknow area male has been charged with one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of G2 Licence Holder – BAC Above Zero. He will answer to his charges in Goderich Court.
