(GUELPH/ERAMOSA TWP, ON) On Friday March 8, 2013 at approximately 4:00 pm, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Jones Baseline near Eastview Road in Guelph/Eramosa Twp.
At this time and location officers investigated the male driver of a 2000 Chevy CZ2 that entered into the checkpoint. Investigation revealed that the male was disqualified from driving anywhere in Canada due to a previous conviction for the same offence. Further investigation revealed that the male was also bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Police learned that he had recently purchased the vehicle from a friend however, failed notify the Ministry of Transportation of this change and failed to properly insure it.
Tyler Loam aged 41 of Campbellville has been charged with Drive While Disqualified and Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on April 30, 2013 to answer to the charges.
