On Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 3:30 p.m., a 911 call was received out of concern for a young child and a dog left in a vehicle unattended. Emergency personnel attended the parking lot on the northwest corner of Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street where the vehicle was located.
Police gained access to the vehicle and the two-year-old child was assessed by EMS. It was determined the child did not require any further medical attention. The mother and her friend returned to the vehicle a short time later.
As a result of the investigation, the 36-year-old mother of the child and her 33-year-old female passenger have been charged with abandon child under 10 years, contrary to section 218 of the Criminal Code of London
