(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) Shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday January 18, 2013, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Perth Line 72 approximately 5 km west of Newry.
Investigation revealed that a Chrysler car was travelling west bound on Perth Line 73 when its driver proceeded to turn into a private driveway located on the south side of the road. The car turned into the path of an eastbound pickup truck causing the vehicles to collide in the east bound lane.
The driver of the car was extricated from the vehicle by the North Perth Fire Department and was transported to the Listowel Memorial Hospital from where he was later transported by air ambulance to London Health Sciences Centre with life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 26 year old male from Bloomington Ontario was treated and released from the Listowel Memorial Hospital.
On Saturday afternoon January 19, 2013, the driver of the car died at the London Health Sciences Centre. The deceased driver has been identified as William LUCAS (84) a resident of the Municipality of North Perth.
