Two Vehicle Crash Results In Careless Driving Charge

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Wednesday October 12, 2011 shortly after 12:30 p.m. Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a two vehicle injury crash on Road 146 south of Line 92 (north east of Palmerston).

Investigation revealed that an Oldsmobile sedan with five Norwell High School Students was travelling south bound on Road 146 (gravel road). The Oldsmobile crossed Line 92 (paved road) at a high rate of speed causing the driver to lose control just south of Line 92. The Oldsmobile struck a north bound Dodge pickup operated by a female driver from the Municipality of North Perth causing a head-on collision. The five occupants of the Oldsmobile were transported to the Palmerston hospital with non life threatening injuries. The two occupants of the pickup truck did not require medical treatment. Both vehicles were demolished as a result of the crash.

The 18 year old male driver of the Oldsmobile, a resident of Minto Twp. has been charged with careless driving” and is to appear in Stratford Court on November 22
