Two Vehicle Collision Sends Taxi Passengers To Hospital

On the 5th of January 2015 at 10:40 am a two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of 10th Street and 5th Avenue East. A taxi, being driven by a 69 year old Owen Sound man, carrying three passengers proceeded to make a right hand turn from 5th Avenue East onto 10th Street East. The taxi entered onto 10th Street with a speed too fast for the slippery road conditions. This caused the taxi to slide into the passing lane of eastbound 10th Street East. At the same time a pick-up truck, driven by a 63 year old Allenford man, was travelling in the same direction in the pass lane. The pick-up truck had insufficient time to stop and collided into the taxi. Two of the passengers of the taxi, a 51 year old woman and 27 year old woman were taken to hospital for minor injuries. Both were treated and later released. Both vehicles were able to be driven away. Charges are pending.
