Motor Vehicle Collision in Chatham
Around 12:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Keil Drive South near Richmond Street.
A 70-year-old Morpeth woman was travelling southbound on Keil Drive when she turned left onto Richmond Street. A 51-year-old Chatham man proceeded through the intersection, northbound on Keil Drive, and struck the woman’s vehicle causing approximately $8000. The woman was not injured, however the man required medical attention for minor injuries.
The Morpeth woman was charged with making a turn not in safety.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind all motorists that when making a turn, especially at an intersection, ensure that you have properly checked traffic in all directions incase another vehicle has the right of way. Proceed in making the turn only when it is safe to do so.
