Just after 2:15AM Owen Sound Police were called to the 300 block of 8th Street East, after witnesses observed the two accused males bend and eventually break the post holding a street sign. The two accused did the same to a stop sign located at the corner of 5th Avenue East and 7th Street East. The accused males then vandalized a private home in the area tearing down a Canadian flag and removing and damaging a real estate sign on the front lawn.
Officers responded to the area immediately, locating and arresting 4 males a short distance away. The males were in Owen Sound participating in a fastball tournament.
Further investigation revealed that two of the arrested males were not responsible for the vandalism, and were eventually released from custody. Two 19 year old males from the Stratford area have been each charged with 3 counts of Mischief Under $5000. They were released and are scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on September 12th, 2013.
