Two Sent To Hospital In Listowel Collision – Careless Driving Charge Laid

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Thursday August 06, 2015, at approximately 12:45 p.m., The North Perth Fire Dept., Perth County EMS personnel and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Wallace Ave North, south of Line 87 in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that a Ford Mustang was stopped on Wallace Ave North waiting to make a left hand turn into a private driveway when it was struck from behind by a north bound Ford Focus. The impact caused moderate damage to the back of the Mustang while the Ford Focus was demolished.

The 18-year-old female driver of the Mustang, a resident of the Municipality of North Perth was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford Focus, 64-year- old Maria PORRO of Minto Twp., was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. She has been charged with “careless driving”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Wallace Ave North was closed to traffic for an hour to allow for the vehicle debris and automotive fluids to be cleared from the roadway.

Road and environmental conditions were ideal at the time of the collision.
