Two persons charged with distraction theft

(Ottawa) –The Ottawa Police Service District Investigation Unit has charged a man and a woman following incidents of distraction theft in local businesses.

On April 16, 2015, a man and a woman attended a business in the 300 block of Richmond Road and stole money from behind the counter when the owner was focused on something else or was in the backroom. A similar incident occurred on April 21st in the 900 block of Gladstone Avenue.

Brandon LANGLOIS (m), 23 years old of Ottawa was charged with two counts of Breach of probation and two counts of Theft under $5000.

Deavyne GUERTIN (f), 22 years old of Ottawa, has been charged with two counts of Theft under $5000.

Ottawa Police investigators are concerned that there may be other victims of this type of thefts.
