On Saturday the 22nd of November at approx. 10:40 a.m. a male party attended the Money Mart located on Queen Street in Chatham. Police also attended after receiving a call of a male suspect trying to cash what was believed to be a forged cheque. Upon arrival police arrested a party who became combative and had to be restrained by several officers. The 20 year old Chatham man was charged with resisting arrest, possession under $5000 (Cheque was stolen) and utter a forged document. He has been held for bail.
At approx. 12:00 noon the same date a 37 year old Chatham man attended this same location also with stolen cheque and was arrested for uttering a forged document. This male was released with a future Chatham court date.
Both cheques had been stolen from a Chatham business. Investigation on going.
