On Saturday, May 28th 2016, shortly after 8:00 p.m., London Police officers attended to the area of Market Lane and Talbot Street in relation to a disturbance at this location. Through the process of their investigation, officers discovered that two males had assaulted a lone male, pushing him to the ground and punching him repeatedly.
As a result of this investigation, Blaire Gibson (24) and Justin Smart (24) of London have been charged with assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The occurrence has been reviewed by our Hate Crime officers as it has elements of a Hate/Bias Motivated offence.
The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault.
