(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On January 12, 2018 at approximately 11:57 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of two, possibly intoxicated, males attempting to remove a pick-up truck that was stuck in a snowbank in a commercial parking lot on Highway 6 & 21 on the Sunset Strip in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
Police attended the scene and located one of the males who indicated that the owner of the pick-up truck had left him there. Jesse TAYLOR, 24-years, of Owen Sound was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for being Intoxicated in a Public Place under the Liquor Licence Act.
While speaking with TAYLOR; the owner of the pick-up truck returned to the scene operating a vehicle. He proceeded to tell the officer that his pick-up truck had been stolen a week prior and that he had reported the theft to police. He stated he came to the parking lot after hearing it was recovered.
Investigation revealed that the pick-up truck had not been reported stolen.
23-year old Jason BOWIE-VANWYCK of Georgian Bluffs was charged with Obstruct Police. He is scheduled to attend court in Owen Sound on February 1, 2018.
He was also issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension for having a blood/alcohol level in the Warn” range.”
