(WEST PERTH, ON) – On Tuesday January 3, 2017, shortly after midnight, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of suspects breaking into vehicles near the intersection of Henry Street and St. Andrew Street in the Town of Mitchell in the Municipality of West Perth.
OPP were able to locate the suspects a short time later. Through investigation, property was identified and recovered that had been taken from one of these vehicles.
Twenty- year-old Tyler VERELLEN of West Perth was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code. He was also charged with possession of a schedule II substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on February 27, 2017.
Twenty-one-year-old Brandon GOWLAND of West Perth was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code. He was also charged with possession of a schedule II substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on January 3, 2017.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing. The Perth County OPP is requesting anyone with information concerning these thefts to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
