(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Friday October 16, 2015, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers arrested two persons for being in possession of a stolen pickup truck.
On Thursday October 15, 2015, at approximately 2:15 a.m. a Huron County resident residing on Moncrieff Road was awakened by his barking dogs. He looked outside and observed his blue 2003 Dodge Ram and his grey 2004 GMC sierra extended cab pickup truck being driven from his property. The resident had left the keys in both of these unlocked vehicles.
On Friday October 16, 2015, around 2 p.m. an OPP officer observed the stolen blue 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck driving on Wellington Ave South in Listowel. Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle by using a cruiser to block its path. The driver of the pickup truck evaded police by driving around the cruiser, hopping a curb and continuing back onto the roadway. Officers observed it speed away and fail to stop at a stop sign. Officers terminated following the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
A short while later, officers were flagged down by a citizen who advised that a blue pickup truck had just entered the south ditch on Bright Street, East of Maitland Ave. South. Officers immediately attended at that location and observed the stolen Dodge Ram Pickup truck in the ditch against a wire fence. A male was seen exiting the vehicle as a female was observed running away from the truck. Both the male and the female were arrested by police.
